Animal Adoptions and Rescue Services
Once in awhile, a family is unable to keep their pet due to unforeseen circumstances, while some
other times, an animal has come from a bad situation and just needs a loving forever home.
Whatever the situation, we are here to help. Our love for reptiles and amphibians goes far beyond
just love of our own animals, but to also help these animals find happy, healthy homes. This is
done as one way of continuing to provide a needed service for the community.
If you are unable to keep your pet and would like to reach out to me regarding relinquishments,
please fill out a relinquishment form (which can be emailed to you) and email it to:
Eric.S.Roscoe@gmail.com. I will work with you to schedule a time to drop the animal off with
myself, or another designated foster.
If you are interested in adopting an animal, let me know. Current members in good standing of
the Madison Area Herpetological Society (MAHS), or other herpetological society or related
educational organizations will be given first preference. This gives you access to continued
knowledge and a resource to ask anything you need to best take care of your new pet. Members
in good standing, however, will get preference in adoptions if multiple people apply. The first thing
you need to do if you want to adopt an animal is fill out an adoption application, which can also
be emailed to you, to be approved as an adopter.
The animals currently available for adoption can be found further down on this page. Some
animals may be listed as remote, or courtesy postings for others in the community, whether due
to space limitations, resources, or level of care required, and will be noted as animals I do not
currently have.
Aquatic Turtles
Unfortunately, we are normally unable to accept or take in most aquatic turtles such as snapping
turtles, painted turtles, cooters, red-eared and yellow-bellied sliders, and others. We can always,
however, consider these on a case-by-case basis. If you have an aquatic turtle to rehome, consider
contacting your local nature center or environmental education center (particularly if it is a native
species of turtle) and/or your local or regional humane society. These places often have the
greatest reach and available resources for being able to accept and rehome your aquatic turtle.
